Neurofeedback

Optime Family Health uses Evoke System technology by utilizing Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG). qEEG is also called a brain mapping and is a powerful adjunctive modality comparable to functional MRI. It is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that measures electrical activity in the brain in the form of brain wave patterns.

We record brain activity by measuring the electrical signals produced by the brain. The brain mapping measures "Coherence" between different areas of the brain which reflects the health of communication between these regions of the brain.

When someone suffers from TBI, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD or many other conditions the brain mapping analysis will show changes in the brain activity. This technology helps us to investigate objective brain physiology. The analysis of cognitive performance and subjective assessments help us identify patterns of dysregulation. With data of brain function and cognitive performance, we can address any negative changes, or optimize performance. This non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical intervention allows us to identify issues and address symptoms that patients are experiencing.

Once the brain has been mapped and assessment has been analyzed the next step is a neurofeedback therapy or training. This brain training helps to rebalance the brain after trauma, improve memory, manage pain, and decrease stress and anxiety.

Neurofeedback therapy is a type of biofeedback for the brain. Neurofeedback measures the electrical activity of the brain by processing signals sent by sensors placed on the scalp. With this information we are able to reward the brain for more appropriate electrical patterns, which in turn will promote a healthier, better functioning mind. Neurofeedback training is listening to your brain waves and giving a feedback – visual or audio. It is passive learning and reinforcement.
